What ingredients in shampoo strip color out of color-treated hair?

Not that I'm trying to take out my color. It's just something I've pondered. What ingredients in shampoo strip color out of color-treated hair?
The type of surfactants used in the shampoos is what will cause color to lift out. Surfactants (AKA: surface active agents) are what clean dirt and products out of the hair. Depending on where the color molecules are in the hair shaft determines if the surfactants will take them out. For example...if you use a semi-permanent haircolor those molecule sit on the outer layer of the hair shaft. If you use a shampoo that has a high level of surfactants it will cause these color molecule to slip off the shaft. hope that answers your question.
