Is there a shampoo in hair color available to make your hair a grey color?

yes, but only if your hair is already gray-if its not then it wont do much of anything for you. the only way to make your hair gray? is to dye it gray-which still might look weird. if it is gray there are alot of different brands out there. all professional ones i have ever used work well.Is there a shampoo in hair color available to make your hair a grey color?
No, don't you mean hair dye. but if you look on the internet you may find someIs there a shampoo in hair color available to make your hair a grey color?
I think maybe we need a little more info on why you want your hair grey. Technically, no, there are not any shampoo- in hair colors that will make your hair grey. If you are blonde now you can try to use an ashy blonde but chances are it is not going to add grey tones unless you are really bleached out. (in that case, the bleach is just going to grab the base color, which is usually blue or violet and give the appearance of grey in certain light)

Now if you are trying to go grey for a school play or a theatre production and you need it for just a night..grab a bottle of baby powder and apply to hair. Instant grey.
You can dye it grey
theres a shampoo called MATRIX SO SILVER - its violet in colour, and when used, it deposits violet/ash tones in the hair and enhances blonde/grey hair and stops brassiness, and if left on long enough it can make ur hair grey cos it'll have too much ash tones in the hair.

where there is too much ash tones in the hair, be it from special shampoos like tht, or from toners, too much ash tone can give the hair the appearance of being grey in colour

Looking for organic shampoo for color treated hair that gets oily 2nd or 3d day after wash. 40 year old?

Looking for a safe/organic/natural shampoo and conditioner. My hair is color treated and by the 2nd or 3rd day after shampoo--it's very oily. My hair has never been oily before. Seems once I hit 40 years old, it suddently gets oily after 2nd-3rd day after shampoo. Eating healthy, exercising,etc.--so not sure--is this start of menopause! LOL. Thanks in advance for recommending an organic shampoo line that is natural and safe.Looking for organic shampoo for color treated hair that gets oily 2nd or 3d day after wash. 40 year old?
The best advice is to use a baby shampoo. Try johnson and Johnson's. This is gentle enough to be used more often , without drying out your hair. Skip conditioner all together now and then as these can build up on your hair and scalp causing unnecessary oil build up. If you must use conditioner, use the leave in spray types. These are less concentrated, thus less oil buildup. Hope this helps good luck

What shampoo is good for maroon color treated hair?

I got the underneath of my hair colored maroon and my stylist said I need a good shampoo for it to keep my hair color from fading too quickly. I use John Frieda for the top of my hair which is blonde and it works really well, so I was thinking about using their Radiant Reds collection for the underneath of my hair but I'm just not sure if it'll work for my shade of red because I think it's made for more natural shades. What shampoo is good for maroon color treated hair?
I;m not really sure how you re able to only shampoo certain sections of you're hair..

I think you would be best to go with a shampoo designed to treat coloured hair in general.

One that I use on my dark auburn hair is L'Oreal colour something..sorry I'm not sure the exact name. It really reduced the fading though because my previous shampoo that was meant for coloured hair as well, certainly didn't seem that way.

Aveda has a great line of shampoos for coloured hair as well. What shampoo is good for maroon color treated hair?
You can use the Radiant Red. It's for all shades of red, colored and natural red.

I used to use it and I loved it.

What shampoo completely takes all the color out of my hair?

A friend of mine colored my hair for me 2 months ago. Now I'm tired of it and want to take the color out. He told me at the time that it was permanent. I heard that color can be washed out of hair. What can I use to wash out all the color? What shampoo completely takes all the color out of my hair?
There are temporary colors (rinses, they're called), that will shampoo out. In that case, it would have already been gone, so your friend is right...it's permanent. You have a couple of choices. The colored hair is now more porous than your natural hair and will respond quicker to treatments. You could use a rinse close to the color of your natural hair to blend it in, but you would have to do it after every shampoo. Or, you can use a permanent color. Select one that is close in color to your hair. You can apply it to all of your hair after mixing or you can use the just coloring agent from the kit, (without the activator). If you don't use the activator, the color will only affect the porous hair, thereby getting you back to natural hair quicker. But, this method will only work if the treated hair is lighter then your natural. If your treated hair is darker, you need to lighten it to match. A little trickier to do. Give more details on what color your hair is, and what color the dyed hair is and I will check back to see if you need more info. What shampoo completely takes all the color out of my hair?
I would say the best thing you could do is go 2 your hairdresser if you try 2 do it yourself you could end up with a real disaster on your hands. You could try a dandruff shampoo but i really think your better of getting it done properly.

How much does it cost to go to a hair salon to color your hair and shampoo it?

i nees the answer by today at 9:30 am please hurry! How much does it cost to go to a hair salon to color your hair and shampoo it?
it depends on how long your hair is, if your getting one or more colors put in your hair, the hair dresser you go to. I would suggest to ask your personal hair dresser this question. How much does it cost to go to a hair salon to color your hair and shampoo it?
expensive
well in england i pay 拢68 for whole head highlights cut a blow dry
probably about 50 bucks for short hair
Depends on where you go and how long your hair is. Some charge from 60-100 and others charge more. If you are looking an inexpensive color, you can always try a beauty college. It is risky but it can cost from 40-80 also depending on where you go. Keep in mind that these are students and still learning. If you are very leary, when you make an appointment ask for a senior and ask who they would recommend.
around 40.00 ..........maybe close to that each place verys...good luck
It really depends on where you go. My stylist charges $60.00!
somewhere between $40 and $150.

depends on the salon, products used, and application meathod
I know that I am a little late, but my hair stylish named Joe wil do that for 40 or 50 dollars
where i go its about 40 bucks.
depends on where you go. I'd say anywhere between $50 and $90 depending on how much hair you have and how high style the salon is. don't forget to tip! 15-20%
With a cut too? About %26amp;100.00, without the cut $50.00

Good luck

What is the best shampoo & conditioner for color treated hair?

garnier fructisWhat is the best shampoo %26amp; conditioner for color treated hair?
I agree I positively ADORE Redken products.

The best I've ever used for colored hair is the conditioner that comes in the boxes or L'Oreal hair dye, although you can only get it in the box, you can't buy it seperately. What is the best shampoo %26amp; conditioner for color treated hair?
I would recomment Tresemme for colour treated hair, it works great on light tones and it really show off the colour, and leaves your hair feeling soft! I dont recomment fructis at all as myself and a few others have experienced loss of hair with it ..not quite sure why maybe it makes your hair weak!

Good luck

  • What is the Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Color Treated Hair?

Hey I'm 13 and i just got the ends of my hair dyed blue and everytime i take a shower it keeps getting lighter and lighter what is the best shampoo to keep it the tone that it is?What is the Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Color Treated Hair?
always use products that are made for color treated hair such as dove for color treated hair or herbal essence color me happy and deep condition about once a weekWhat is the Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Color Treated Hair?
you need a shampoo for dyed hair. any shampoo that says its for dyed hair should work. the real good ones are the professional ones, but only your ends are dyed so it wouldnt be worth it. and the blue keeps coming out because it isnt permanent dye. its going to keep coming out anyway. you need re-dye colors like those every once in a while.
I WISH my hair would be fading (read my question..)

but I would use Color Protection stuff by Dove. it will keep your hair shiny and make the color last longer (it's a red bottle)

If you get highlights, do u have to use color shampoo?

    shampoo for dyed hair?

if i dont use it, what will happen? If you get highlights, do u have to use color shampoo?
Color shampoo only helps to maintain the highlights for a longer period of time (Esp. if you have hard water), but it is not neccassary, any mild or good moisturising shampoo is good, Johnsons Baby shampoo, or childrens shampoo like Gogo Grape. If you get highlights, do u have to use color shampoo?
it's recommended that you use it, otherwise the highlights will fade and your hair might not receive enough of the moisturizing agents the color shampoos have. If your hair starts falling off call a doctor immediatly!
yeah you should. Colour safe shampoo has got less chemicals in them and protecting agents that help keep your colour and help it last longer. Coloured hair should be taken care of and colour shampoo is best.
    r u dumb?
Recently I read that the following about shampoos and conditioners.

Shampoos for colored hair are more gentle than regular shampoo. As you know, coloring your hair is hard on the hair shaft and it coats it with chemicals that cause your hair to change color.

Over time the color wears off. This wearing off process makes the hair fade and look dry. The shampoos for colored hair and the conditioners are meant to keep the hair shaft protected, less damaged and more likely to retain color.

The conditioners that contain color pigments like the ones especially for blonds or redheads for example, add extra color pigments and can make hair look brighter longer.

The side effects of color containing shampoos and conditioners is that it can make hair less likely to retain color the next time you color.

If you don't use color shampoo, then it is likely that your color will fade faster. However, if you use good conditioners or products for colored hair, you will protect the color you have longer.
color specific shampoo can sometimes help color last longer and not fade or get brassy, but in general, its just a gimic to get you to buy the more expensive stuff. You will be fine with regular shampoo. Just make sure you use conditioner. Dyeing your hair drys it out so you need to put the moisture back into it with a good conditioner.
yes, because the dye is so hard on you hair, since its just little bits it will make that hair more sensible then the rest so little by little your hair will start to fall out. trust me it happened to me...
not nessesarly, but you might want to, to keep it nice and shiny
No you do not HAVE to use shampoo for color treated hair with hightlights. Now if you use dark on your hair, then yes that would be best so as not to strip the color or have it fade sooner. So long as you use a good shampoo, not Ivory, Suave, VO5, etc, I mean a good shampoo from a saloon or beauty supply store, the color will last until the next touchup. Remember tho, sun damages the hair, as well as constant blow drying, curling iron, using a hairbrush on wet hair inst of a comb, etc. So use a good shampoo, condition, and comb out properly - your color will last till its time to do it again!
Nothing. It's just that coloring your hair will dry it out, so shampoos and conditioners for 'colored hair' tend to be more moisturising.
That would be preferred, it helps keep the color sheen, and your hair conditioned.
eventually the colrs will fade. but all you got to to is dye them again!
Not really i have highlights, i never use any colour shampoo. I just use stay colour shampoo so my hair colour doesn't get fade. If you don't want to use it you don't have it's not that important. If your hair colour fade out you can get your hair touch up.
its up to you ..it will probaly stay better colour longer if you do use it thats all...
First of all, from a psychology standpoint, you don't really have to do anything if you don't want to, people can try to force you but ultimately you always make a choice in the end....

    But anyhow....

It would be a good idea because the highlights are basically dyed hair. If you don't use shampoo for color treated hair, the tone of the highlights could become a bit brassy after a while. Also, they will fade faster if you don't. And your hair might become a bit more damaged or dry from using normal shampoo on your already processed hair. Basically there are more minuses than pluses here so if you can, just use some shampoo for color treated hair.

    hope I helped :)
    you should
it would be better to used shampoo for dyed hair even if you have highlights, but if you don't nothing bad will happen. the highlights will just fade faster.

Blonde Highlighted hair - Color shampoo vs. Volume shampoo?

I have lots of light blonde highlights all over (natural color is dirty blonde-light brown). I want to use a volumizing shampoo to add some body to my hair but am worried about protecting my color. Is it more important for me to use a color shampoo or can I safely use a volumizing shampoo? Any suggestions on some good shampoos/conditioners would be appreciated as well :)Blonde Highlighted hair - Color shampoo vs. Volume shampoo?
Go with a shampoo for both. The Pureology line is specifically formulated to preserve/protect color treated hair. And, they have formulations for all hair types. Try their PureVolume Shampoo and Conditioner.

Good luck :)Blonde Highlighted hair - Color shampoo vs. Volume shampoo?
You could use a color shampoo, but then after you get out use a volumizing spray or mousse.

    :)

Or, you could mix the shampoo together so its volume and color- or, last but not least,

use a shampoo or conditioner for volume, and another for color.

But I think you'd be fine without a color shampoo at all.

Does anyone know a shampoo that will strip color from your hair good?

I have been told Suave is harsh on your hair so it works well, know of any others?Does anyone know a shampoo that will strip color from your hair good?
The only thing I have ever heard of is a malibu treatment. You have to go to your local salon and have them do it. Trust me I know, I dyed my hair Black once! I dont' know what I was thinking....I had to go have them do two treatments! good LuckDoes anyone know a shampoo that will strip color from your hair good?
baby shampoo!!! But be sure to deep condition afterwards!! And it will still not completly strip it. Also...being out in the sun will help it to fade. And rinsing in hot water. Try all three! Good luck!

black malva shampoo and conditioner by AVEDA

it's specifically made for darker (black) hair

and it smells sooooo good :)Can anybody recommend a good shampoo for black color hair?
Pantene used to have a really good one for brunettes. It gave a lot of shine and dimension to my hair and my original color is almost black it's so dark.

Is the dove go fresh shampoo okay for color treated hair?

It doesn't say on the bottle...

So does anyone know?Is the dove go fresh shampoo okay for color treated hair?
    If it doesn't say anywhere on the bottle that it is safe for color treated hair... then it's not safe for it. Most shampoos I've seen will at least have it printed on the back ';safe for color treated hair.';

What's the best shampoo to help fade color?

I recently had my hair highlighted which turned more orange than blonde, so I decided to dye my hair back to my natural color (light brown) and it turned a really dark brown and looks awful. What's the best shampoo or process to make the color fade and hopefully get back closer to my natural color? What's the best shampoo to help fade color?
A cosmotology student told me when I was in esthetics school that rosemary mint shampoo stripped hair and never to use it if I colored my hair. What's the best shampoo to help fade color?
Well if you have about $50 to spend, I suggest going to a salon and getting a malibu treatment by a professional. If you are on a tight budget, as most of us are, buy a malibu treatment from the store and do it yourself. The one at the salon will work better, but at the very least, the one from the store will lighten the color!
Shampoos at the store called ';clarifying'; shampoo basically strip your hair. I've used it before to remove some random gunk that got in it that couldn't be removed any other way and also fade hair color. Just use a really good strong conditioner with it.
well i use the shampoo SUAVE RADIANT BRUNETTE to fade my black hair to brown and it work. you can get it from bed bath and beyond.
If your hair is bleached..You'll have to recolor, or have your hair stripped, or wait for it to grow out..If it's just color, Head and shoulders helps fade the color.
Head and Shoulders!! My sister had this problem and using head and shoulders really helped!!
maybe a clarifying shampoo?? and if you want faster results just wash your hair like a million times a day :)
that happened to me n i used head n shoulders it really helped

What is the best brand of shampoo and cond. for color treated hair?

I currently use thermasilk which was recently discontinued and I hear sunsilk made a similar kind but wasn't that good. I would like to find shmp/cond that can leave my hair silky and shiny....I've tried other brands that just don't do it for me such as herbal essences, aussie, garnier, suave, pantene.............any suggestions? What is the best brand of shampoo and cond. for color treated hair?
Try Paul Mitchell. Their shampoo for color treated hair is amazing! The one I use is for all hair colors as well. I've tried a few different brands, such as Suave, Pantene, and John Frieda. This one, by far, as beat them all! It makes my hair look like I just came back from the salon! You really should try it. I'm sure that you will love it!

Personally i use Garnier Fructis Length and strength And their Leave-in Conditioner. I am happy with the results but everything is different for everyone.
If you can get it from a hairstylist get some Halo or Redken Color Extend. Both are really great!!.

They are both professional products, they may cost a bit more, but they work VERY well.
    http://www.herbalessences.com/us/collections/color_me_happy/

this stuff should do the trick
Um I like suave, but I think you can try john frieda which is for blondes, redheads, or brunettes.

What happens to the color in hair conditioner and shampoo?

So I use John Frieda brilliant brunette and my shampoo and conditioner is brown. What happens to the color? Does it rinse out or does my hair absorb it? Hmm...What happens to the color in hair conditioner and shampoo?
Well after dying your hair you are suppoed to rinse it and put conditoner in it(this makes the color stay in longer and protects a little from fading, the higher the ph the better),Then after a day or so you can shampoo and conditon your hair(the higher the ph the longer it will help your hair stay the color you dyed it,the shampoo makes it graduley fade depending on what type of hair you have). To make dye stay in longer and obsorb more of the color, wash your hair with shampoo and baking soda(this will dry out your hair so it will obsorb the next thing you put in it...the dye). You can alos wrap the parts you dyed in tin foil and shoot it for like 5 mins in total with a blow dryer.(this also helps the color stay in a lot longer)Hope it helped!

What shampoo you recommend to color white hair and enhance golden highlights ?

really anything that is specified for the color of hair that you are trying to maintain. trsseme makes one as well as, pantene, herbal essences and got2be. i used to use john freida's brutally blonde...i think that's the name of it! i haven't dyed my hair blonde in years. but you should try one of these! good luck!

  • Whats the best shampoo to keep my color?

I got blonde highlights in my dark blonde hair a couple weeks ago, and it looks like the color is already fading. What shampoos work best to maintain colors brightness? I use Pantene Pro-V Blonde right now, and that works a little, but I want it to look like it did when I left the salon.Whats the best shampoo to keep my color?
I would go to a salon and purchase purple shampoo. The purple will counter-act with the yellow that may come in your highlights and make them brighter. If that isn't what you are looking for, Biolage has an awesome color shampoo. As does Paul Mitchell and Bed Head. It all depends on budget. But, Pantene is just going to add waxes to your hair and make it look dingey and dull.Whats the best shampoo to keep my color?
The best thing to do for blonde hair is use a silver shampoo every 2 -3 washes and make sure you buy salon shampoos and conditioners specifically for blonde hair. Nothing will work as well as salon hair products promiss im totally blonde and my hair never looks dull or brassy simply because i use really good shampoo and conditioner. Oh and also treatment your hair with a colour safe treatment but most importantly use a silver shampoo to get rid of the warm tones.

    Hope this helps :)
well when i got the same thing done to my head my salon person gave me a certain type but i had something a little different so go to where you got your hair done and ask
Perhaps the salon's products would be your best bet.

You should ask your hairdresser to recommend something. Although the salon's products are often pricey, you can get her recommendation and then look at target or e-bay or something to actually buy the product for less.

That being said, I would think a very gentle, baby shampoo would be good as well.
Frederic Fekkai's shampoo is good, it's for colored hair. More information and review: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?optio鈥?/a>

Best dandruff shampoo to use on color treated hair?

I've been having trouble with dandruff lately. I believe it is due to the cold weather? I dye my hair black, so is there a dandruff shampoo that I can use that is safe for color treated hair?Best dandruff shampoo to use on color treated hair?
i used head and shoulders for the same reason when i had black hair but it just seemed to take lots of the dye/colour out my hair so i had to dye it more often killing my hair!Best dandruff shampoo to use on color treated hair?
Head and shoulders thats what i use it helps keep the black looking awsome and it makes your color last long to. IT also makes ur hair smell soooo good!!!
Head and Shoulders has a bunch of new products. They have shampoo AND conditioner as opposed to a 2-in-1 now, and they have products for color treated hair!
I would say Head and Shoulders. They have so many different kinds, they most likely have one for treated hair. And even if they don't have one made especially for treated hair, I've used the regular kind on my treated hair and it still seemed to be fine.
I have used 'Head and Shoulders' but it just made it worse - I believe 'Herbal Essences - No Flakin' Way Anti-Dandruf Shampoo' works very well - in one wash, my dandruff was gone - but 'Head and Shoulders' did not work very well for me. It just made my hair very static and poofy.

Because of the combination of things that you are trying to do/doing with your hair, your definite best bet would be Garnier Fructis Color Shield Line. Their Shampoo and Conditioner will keep color brilliant, while also fortifying to help your hair grow longer and healthier, faster. Their color shield UV protection spray and intensive conditioner are also magnificent for protecting hair and keeping color treated-heat styled hair in tip-top condition.

nizoral you can purchase this at walgreen

What is a good shampoo/conditioner for dry, color treated hair?

I dont want any sort of shampoo you can buy from a retail store (ie: pantene, suave, aussie, etc.). I'm looking for a good salon shampoo. I've tried Paul Mitchell and hated it.

Any suggestions? My hair is extremely dry and it has been colored in the past.

Thanks! What is a good shampoo/conditioner for dry, color treated hair?
Some of my suggestions would be to try:

Redken 'Color Extend' for a reasonable price.

Also, Redken makes a deep conditioner called 'Extreme' which comes in a blue bottle and that is an excellent product.

Matrix 'Amplify Color XL' is another great product (I'm a Matrix fan, there hair color is excellent as well).

Now if you're willing to spend some money and get what I believe to be the best products around, I would suggest visiting a salon that carries Kerastase products. You will want to go for the 'Reflection' line which are fuscia colored bottles (this is the color treated line), they also carry different deep conditioning and reconstructing products that are safe on color treated hair.

Kerastase is a L'Oreal product, lots of L'Oreal products that you can find at your local conveniant store are also a cheaper version of a great product.

Hope this helps some. Good Luck %26amp; let me know if you need help! What is a good shampoo/conditioner for dry, color treated hair?
Joico and KMS are great products.....Nexus also has a great line for moisture
Helena Mays ';Color Comfort Revitalizer';. Excellent stuff, and not expensive (and beats the crap out of any Paul Mitchell).
John Master's Honey and Hibiscus Hair Reconstructer.

If you can't find it at your salon, then go to johnmasters.com or saffronrouge.com, and look at their hair conditioners.

    :-D
Sallys beauty store has this wonderful product called ION. They also have styling products.
I like Fructis, as well. I know you said you didn't want retail store brands, but what's the point of paying three times as much? I've been coloring my hair for 10 years without fail. Fructis/Nutrisse has been the best I've used--and I've used the expensive salon stuff. And, no, I don't work for the company! :-)
INFUSIUM!!!! omg its amazing, its completely changed my hair! i color constantly and Infusium 23's 'repair-ology' fixes the damage almost instantly. nothing else Ive used has worked so well to condition and repair my hair, and Ive tried ALL those high end products! it works great as a mask too, just leave it in for 3 or 4 minutes after you shampoo and your hair will be deeply conditioned. Its only like 5 or 6 dollors to and you can get it any where , not just in salons, but they have it there to. And the smell!!! it beats the crap out of Paul Mitchell! lol

Hope you try it, it works great for me! good luck tho, hair is frustrating some times!

paint thinner. dont use too much and dont get it in your eyes. dont let it touch your skin either. use plastic gloves. Is there a shampoo that can lift color out of your hair quicker than others can?
Head%26amp;shoulders does the trick for me. Put it on your hair dry and leave it 10 minutes. This can be repeated often as its just shampoo, but remember to condition afterwards else it'll be a little dry.

I also hear vosene is good. If your desperate, do a bleach bath. 1 part hair bleach to 2 parts clarifying shampoo, damp hair and leave it on 5-10 mins.

I like buying from Pantene Pro-Vive. It makes my hair feel soft and not dried out. I have curly hair and haven't seen my natural color and years, lol, and does does the job. What's a good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair?

Yesterday I colored my hair from blonde to brown and is Redken a good shampoo/conditioner to use or should I use one that is specific to my color that has brown tones in it? Also, how often should you shampoo your hair during the week? What's a good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair?
i work at a salon that uses redken so i would recommend that! they say to not wash your hair the day you get it done and the day after. give it time. so use the redken color protective shampoo and conditioner. i love it and use it as well! hope i helped! What's a good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair?
I usually wash it every day unless I'm going to be home for a few days and then I let it grease up :) I don't have color treated hair but I'm very happy with Dove products. Only wash your hair once before you condition it or you will be completely stripping your natural oils and end up with a frizzy mess
    paul mitchell

you should use the one for brunettes now

its better to use one that is specific to your color now to

keep it consistant color and so it wont wash out

it doesnt matter if you shampoo everyday but only condition at mostt every other day
I use Brocato miracle treatment, and I also use Big Sexy Hair and it smells amazing. Dumb Blonde system by TIGI also works great and keeps hair super soft and shiny and is great for it.
I use Granier shampoo and conditioner for colored hair

I would recommend Suave products. They are very reasonably priced, sometimes even cheaper than store brands and you can get them just about anywhere! I use Suave Professionals Sleek, since I have chemically straightened hair. You can try Suave Professionals Color Care, specially designed to help lock-in color and prevent fading. I absolutely love my Suave Sleek shampoo! It works as good as or better than anything I've ever tried. And it makes my hair so much softer! What is the best grocery store brand shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair?
    Cheap Shampoo Product Reviews

So, you have just come out of the salon and have passed up the offer to purchase the high priced

shampoos and you are wondering if your lower priced brands can compare. Well, here is a review of some lower priced
there's a variety at every store.

    just read the labels.

and go for a good brand like pantene or dove.

they both have shampoos and conditioners for colored hair.
i like garnier fructis color shield

make sure you use a conditioner specifically for color treated hair

and also if you have a color that fades (so anything besides bleached) make sure you arent washing your hair everyday especially if it has red
I use Meijer brand of Herbal Essences. If you don't have a Meijer, I'm sure WalMart has the same thing. It is usually next to the Herbal Essence product.
color me happy by herbal essences. i find it to make my temp. hair color last longer. and it smells great too

Redken is great, but it extremly pricy! I use Treseme's shampoo and conditioner fcor color hair. It's not bad - like $4 or $5 but you get a huge bottle full that should last you a while. The best thing is to check the alcohol content. if that is one of the fist ingredients, then it will make your hair dry and brittle. I use Infusium brand but some say just plain old Dove works great.

Is it ok to use normal shampoo with color treated hair?

I dyed my hair with 'perfect ten' dark brown.

    i love the result!

i have naturaly dark eyebrows, so now everything matches.

my natural color is light brown with some blonde and red natural higlights

can i use my herbal essences shampoo and conditoners without the color washing out?

    the kinds i use are

    dangerously straight

drama cleanIs it ok to use normal shampoo with color treated hair?
I've dyed my hair before. I've always used Pantene Pro-V because it keeps the shine up. Even with a color care shampoo you're only going to get maybe a week more of vibrant color compared to the other stuff out there. You always get color fade after about 6 weeks. If its not a big deal, just stick with what you have.Is it ok to use normal shampoo with color treated hair?
It is ok to use regular shampoo for color treated hair, but you will need to buy dye more often as it fades with that shampoo. Even if you have permanent hair dye it will do it. If you look at the different types of shampoos you will find that every brand has a type for color treated hair, even Herbal Essences. You will probably be happier with your hair for a longer period of time if you do that.
Is it permanent hair dye or temporary - ie, the stuff that ';fades'; out after twenty or so washes? If it's the latter, I might invest in some shampoo for colour treated hair, as the regular stuff may strip the natural shine from the dye, making it fade quicker.
If you want your color to last longer then you should use shampoos and conditioners that are specifically for color treated hair because they contain ingredients that help your color last longer. I'd be surprised if Herbal Essence didn't have a line for color treated hair....
It won't wash the color out right away, but those will make the color fade out of your hair faster that a shampoo for colored hair.
all colour washes out slightly, i have 4 colours in my hair lol including fluorescent pink haha

theres plenty of shampoos out there for coloured hair, i find the head and shoulders colour care really good!!

What's the best volumizing shampoo for color-treated hair?

If there is such a thing? :PWhat's the best volumizing shampoo for color-treated hair?
I don't know if there's a 2-in-1 like that, but I currently use Herbal Essences' 'Body Envy' shampoo with the 'Color Me Happy' conditioner, and it works pretty well. there's a quiz called 'Product Selector' on their website which will recommend products based on your hair type - I've posted a link.

Dove also makes good volumizing shampoos, and if you dye your hair at home; try using the conditioner they give you in the box once a week for as long as it lasts - usually about a month. What's the best volumizing shampoo for color-treated hair?

I have just highlighted my hair with red. How to I maintain the color? What shampoo is recommended?

I am a natural red head and I must tell you that if ur natural hair color is black or brown it'll be difficult for ur hair to hold red. blacks n browns best hold lighter shades of brown and golds. if ure a blonde than u'll hold red well. provided u use the right hair products. before coloring massage ur scalp with olive oil the previous night. shampoo and wash off and then colour ur hair. well moisturised hairs shafts enables better penetration of hair colour. use loreal or wella hair products for coloured hair henceforth and massage ur scalp regularly with oil every week. colour tends to get disoriented if the hair is damaged or dry. pop vitamin e or cod liver capsules regularly too retain ur shiny colour. Have fun with it!!!I have just highlighted my hair with red. How to I maintain the color? What shampoo is recommended?
Use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, and shampoo as infrequently as possible. (If you can, only wash your hair like every other day or every 3rd day.) Keep in mind, though, that red is a very hard color to keep in your hair. You may have to dye your hair again frequently.I have just highlighted my hair with red. How to I maintain the color? What shampoo is recommended?
certain shampoos are specialized for color treated hair... pantene has one..

Redken has a great line for color treated hair, as does Biolage.

Just make sure you buy the products from licensed salons, not CVS or anything like that, because its usually counterfit or expired.

The best thing for getting hair back to that ';never been dyed'; look and feel is QUALITY shampoo, not something cheap that causes buildup and ultimately makes matters worse. What is a good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair?
My hair dresser recommended Neutrogena. She told me that those expensive salon shampoos have chemicals we just don't need to put in our hair, their just there to make it smell pretty. I have been happy with Neutrogena.
kerastase shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair.
I personslly use L'Oreal. It was recommended by my hairdresser and she's mobile so doesn't get anything by recommending.
Well it depends on what colour hair you have got. But because you have light-medium brown hair you should try pantene pro-v! :-)

redkin makes a pretty good one.

i haven't used their protection one, but i really liked the back 2 basics line.

i'm currently using a lot of aussie products. all shampoos will make colored hair fade faster, i suggest that you don't wash your hair so frequently if you don't have to. only wash it when it looks greasy. and remember its totally ok to rinse your hair out in place of washing it. (act like you wash it but don't apply any soap) it will clean some of the oil out of your hair without ruining your color
garnier fructis and it smells awesome.
    Pantene....not too expensive, either.

REDKEN, and when changing hair color esp if our hair is long you gotta ave REDKEN Anti-Snap as well as the clor specifics, If you are not a fan of that then try ALterna (Hard to find in some areas but MY GOD is it worth the search. Shy away from Paul Mitchell...I know alot of people swear buy it, but a lot of them myself included find it drying.

I use the Pantene Brown Expressions line shampoo and conditioner, and I love it. It holds my color and my hair is always really shiny.

I also used the John Freda Brilliant Brunette stuff for a couple of months and hated it. It made my hair greasy and limp. And the ';shine enhancer'; or whatever it is called just weighed my hair down and didn't do anything to make it shine.
    pantene pro v
    Pantein.
    Biolage
omg the product Nioxin works best for everything!! dont use pantene, matrix, or anything else because your color will wash out. biolage is ok too but its not as strong as nioxin. plus this product helps make your hair grow faster, healthier, %26amp; smoother. the link below will help you find a store near you. good luck!
Try Halo. I've used it with good success. It's nice because all the formulas are blended for colored hair, but they still address any other issues you have. Like dryness, or oil, or frizz. It smells good too. It is a salon product though, so you do have to buy it at a salon or at a supply place.
ghd shampoo and conditioner will work a treat in your hair, i had just dyed my hair blonde and it was like straw, actually worse, that was until i went to the hairdressers and she used the ghd shampoo and conditioner and instantly i felt a difference.my hair was as smooth as a babys bum and my hair seemed so shiny.

i couldint beleieve it , after spendidng hundreds of pound experimenting with hair gloss, shampoo after shampoo, conditionner, after conditioner i found miracle in a bottle.

pureology is the best shampoo for highlighted or dyed hair

Whats the best kinda shampoo for color treated hair?

there is so many whats the best?Whats the best kinda shampoo for color treated hair?
Definitely anything Pureology! They make all of their products-shampoos, conditioners, styling products for color treated hair. There is a moisturizing, volumizing, clarifying, and anti frizz shampoo. So basically you're getting 2 kinds of shampoo in one bottle. The products are REALLY concentrated so you only need to use about a dime to nickel size. Just make sure you saturate your hair really well with water. There are no sulfates in the shampoo which most other brands have which are damaging to their hair. They are also cancer preventing because they don't contain carcinogens. They're 100% vegan and are very, very natural. They'll also make your hair dry faster because the product actually gets in your hair strand and pushes the water out instead of laying on top of it. I use the Pureology products on my clients in the salon and they all love it and can definitely tell the difference from other color treated products. I use the moisturizing one (it's called Hydrate) at home and I LOVE it! The products are a little more pricey but remember, you get what you pay for! It's definitely worth it to use Pureology and have 1 bottle of shampoo for 6 months than to buy 3 bottles of a drug store shampoo to last you the same amount of time.

Check it out! www.pureology.comWhats the best kinda shampoo for color treated hair?
i am a color treated redhead and i use Aveda Madder Root (specifically for redheads) shampoo and conditioner so i can clean my hair without striping the color away.. they have shapoo and conditioners for different shades of color..they also have Color Conserve which isn't color specific.. check em out...
Depends on the colour, if blonde go for something with henna in it but if you are dark try Clairol Herbal Essence, it keeps the colour and gives a very good condition.Ive tried a few ie.John Frieda, Mark Hill and wasnt happy with them.
try aussie hair shampoo and its conditioner, makes it feel like silk, I know becuz I color my hair, and that is all I use. you can get it at big lots for reasonable price in large pump bottles.

Do you recommend shampoo for color treated hair?

i dye my hair once every 6 weeks chocolate dark brown, do you think its worth it to buy shampoo for color treated hair? Do you see a difference in the preservation of color or healthiness of your hair?Do you recommend shampoo for color treated hair?
it doesn't matter what shampoo you buy just make sure it has Panthanol. in it (i didn't spell it right but they should make chemicals that the average person can spell) and the panthanol helps to preserve colour. (i don't know how i am not a scientist)Do you recommend shampoo for color treated hair?
If you have money to spend you could buy the Wen cleansing conditioner. Shampoos strip the hair of it's natural oils and dye. The cleansing conditioner is a conditioner that cleans your hair so you don't have to use shampoo. It'll also preserve your color so you only need to retouch your roots and not put the color through your whole hair again because of fading. It's about $28 if you buy it from QVC. More about it http://www.chazdean.com or http://www.wenhaircare.com

Other than that I'd go with shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair because they have ingredients to keep your color from fading too quickly.
Definately! a shampoo for color treated hair will do one of two things prolong the color or even deposit color into the hair with each shampoo, and i think its always good to use the conditioner recommended with the shampoo and a mask every now and then if you choice. they even make sun protecting sprays to help prolong your color service.

goldwell color definition or color IQ are some good ones
I recommend the Aveda color treatment shampoo and conditioner. It makes your hair softer and more natural. Not to mention it keeps my color in longer.
nope. good choice my hair is that colour

Do I need to buy shampoo with color care?

It's my first time dying my hair, and I'm dying it black. I wanted to know if buying color care shampoo is Absolutely necessary?

and any tips on dying hair for the first time would be really helpful!Do I need to buy shampoo with color care?
Yes, if youre hair is dyed, you should try to make it more healthy in as many ways as possible. Color care is a good start.Do I need to buy shampoo with color care?
Yes, if you want your color to stay truer longer and not fade as fast.

If your going rom one end of the color spectrum to the other, (blonde to black, or vise-versa) then you will need to get an anti-frizz serum to apply to your ends to keep the from splitting. Going from one color to the other is very damaging to your hair and the serum will help to keep it healthy and protect it. I recommend John Frieda Anti-Frizz Serum, sold at mass retailers for about $5. Just apply it to towel dried hair and style as normal. Also, using a deep hydrating mask one a week will keep your hair in tip-top condition. I like the Time Renewal Hair Conditioning Mask from Pantene. Hope this helps.
If you want it to stay black then yes. But drugstore junk is really harsh and will strip the color right out, so you need to get a salon quality shampoo.

infusium-23 shampoo/conditioner. the conditioner works really good if you leave it on at least 10 minutes. I use a hair mud mask by st.ives once a week, it goes on dry hair and you leave it on all day or night, brings your hair back to it's original condition (before you colored).
Get something that is a gentle formula otherwise it will strip colour out

The best way to protect your color is to wash your hair less. Don't wash it every day; try every other day, and put your hair up in a showercap on days you don't wash.

Try a color-protecting shampoo to keep hair vibrant when you do wash it; pantene makes really nice shampoo.

whats a good kind of color depositing shampoo?Color shampoo?
For the best color deposit product ( because the shampoos really don't deposit color) is John Freida's Luminous Color Glaze. It comes in different shades for redheads, blondes and brunettes, and you use it in the shower after you shampoo and condition hair. The more you use it ( you can use it everyday if you wish- it's that safe) the more color you get, plus it doesn't run when you sweat or get rained on. Follow the directions and rinse well as in any color depositing gloss.Color shampoo?

I was at mmy cousin's and she had auburn coloured hair same as mine and I used her Loreal color 4 burnettes conditioner and it made my hair so soft and bright - I couldn't believe it! I don't know if they have shampoo, but it was awesome. I have natural curly hair that is like wire, and wow - i loved it.

A good inexpensive shampoo for color-treated hair available in the US?

I have foil highlights on my hair, quite a few, so it is pretty blond. I didn't want to pay for the extensive salon shampoo. The stylist said I could use something cheaper from Target or wherever as long as it said it was safe for color treated hair.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your comments! :)A good inexpensive shampoo for color-treated hair available in the US?
    revlon conditioner is awesome

there's also Treseme, John Frieda, Pantene pro-V that have great products.A good inexpensive shampoo for color-treated hair available in the US?

  • My natural hair color is dark brown and I want it to be light brown, so what shampoo color should I buy? ?

My hair is long and the bottom half is light blond (highlights), so I want to dye it first, and I want to be like my natural hair color (dark brown). Then I want to dye it to get one color which is light brown. My natural hair color is dark brown and I want it to be light brown, so what shampoo color should I buy? ?
Shampoo won't do any good. You need to dye to a darker color, then after a week or so, you can lighten to the color you want. I would start with a level 2 color so it fades and is not permanent to determine the color you want.

Will a deep cleaning shampoo remove color from my hair?

I just dyed my hair a day or two ago and I was wondering if I kept using Tresemme Deep Cleaning shampoo if it will strip the color out of my hair? I think I might use it sparingly until I get a new shampoo. But will it remove the color in the few days that I use it? im scared I don't want the color to fade any quicker than it should. Will a deep cleaning shampoo remove color from my hair?
Absolutely not. No it will not remove the hair color Sorry. Will a deep cleaning shampoo remove color from my hair?
if its a clarifying shampoo then yes it well take out color. i used to use one untill i realized how fast my black and red tips were fading extremely fast. get a non sulfate shampoo, or a color safe shampoo. the non sulfate ones do not strip ur hair and they make it last longer. i use back to basics non sulfate color safe shmapoo and conditioner and my red and black still look like they did when i first got out of the salon.
no, it wont. deep cleaning just means that it'll clean your hair and sclap pretty well. it doesnt mean it'll take the color out of your hair. trying asking someone who works at a hair salon.
it could i mean some shampoos remove natural chemicals from you hair. dont know if it strips hair dye our but..... why dont you try using the shampoo that makes the hair dye stay in your hair longer? im sure they make thoose for a reason
I use that brand of shampoo Treesemme Deep Cleaning Shampoo

    No does not remove color

If you just dye your hair and you see color washing out the first couple of days that normal.
This depends on whether you have perminantly dyed your hair or semi perminant. But no is shouldn't effect either but if you have perminantly dyed your hair you cant wash out the colour.
it shouldnt. brands like tresemme is normally good to your hair, even when dyed.

its alot different from something like pert that stuff can rly take it out.

    your safe
i don't thank so but im not an expert or anything
    Nope.

Is it okay to use a shampoo/conditioner for color treated on hair that has never been colored?

I seem to get better results when I use shampoo's for color treated hair. Is this okay?Is it okay to use a shampoo/conditioner for color treated on hair that has never been colored?
I don't see why not. It may actually be good for your hair because when you color your hair it takes out a lot of oils and damages the roots and ends. Color treatment shampoos and conditioners are formed to give back moisturizers to help replenish and heal the hair. So if anything i'm sure it'll be just fine to use them.Is it okay to use a shampoo/conditioner for color treated on hair that has never been colored?
Of course. It is perfectly fine to use it on your own hair.

Just purchased Redeken Color Extend shampoo, will that help damaged thin hair that needs color treatment?

My hair dresser told me to get something with color treatment, and I've been using regular hair shampoo like dove, pantene, john freida and my hair has been a complete damaged reck, so I figured I go to a salon to purchase something nicer, that might help more.

Does Redeken get the job done?Just purchased Redeken Color Extend shampoo, will that help damaged thin hair that needs color treatment?
Let me tell you that Redkin's All Soft has helped my hair so much! I love it. I have been used so many different shampoos and love this All Soft. However, I would also recommend Pureology. That's an awesome shampoo. A little pricey but wow will you feel it! Hope that helped! You should also get a leave- in conditioner.Just purchased Redeken Color Extend shampoo, will that help damaged thin hair that needs color treatment?
redken color extend is actully to make your hair color last long, thus is a very gental shampoo. most redken products will help with that but if your looking for damge repair i suggest a moistuiser and a reconstrutor. i prefer the joice kpak line, but i do know that redkens butter treatment is very good.

I'm looking for a hair color shampoo to keep my color looking great. I've searched the web, but, can't find anything I want. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please?I'm looking for a hair color shampoo?
As a color specialist, I use Paul Mitchell Color Care line of products. I suggest that my color clients use it at home as well. They also have a line of color refreshing shampoos if you experience fading between salon visits. The link below gives more information about the Paul Mitchell Color Care line.I'm looking for a hair color shampoo?
There's a really good one called Umber Tones by Umberto Gianni. It's about 拢2 (in the UK - not sure about elsewhere) and there's enough in a bottle for 4 or 5 shampoos. It comes in a good range of colours too.
Matrix, found in salons only. I use it and it works great.
You can only find these products in Salons: Artec and Goldwell make color shampoos and conditioners. Goldwell also has a new line of conditiones with a low ph that will make your colored hair come to life.
There is a relatively new product line that specializes in products for colored hair. It about a year old and based in California....Pureology.. Little more expensive but definitely worth it.

What is the best shampoo/conditioner for color-treated hair?

I don't mind paying for it if an expensive kind is really the best. I spent money getting highlights at the salon so I'd like to protect my investment =) What helps protect your color the longest? What is the best shampoo/conditioner for color-treated hair?

I just got a highlighting kit (Garnier Nutrisse nourishing multi-lights beige blonde). I was wondering whether you need to use a color safe shampoo so they don't fade. I doubt it, just wondering? My hair is strawberry blonde by the way, and my current shampoo is not color-safe, it's Herbal Essences long term relationship.Do you need color-safe shampoo for highlights?
You don't, but using one will help your hair stay bright longer!

I use Herbal Essences for color-treated hair.

I just buy the 2 in 1 formula because it saves me like 5 minutes in the shower every day. xD

yes i got mine highlited not too long ago and i used not color safe and kinda took mine out a llittle(a streak or two) so yes i would recomend color safe shampoo

pantene!!What's a better shampoo for color treated hair Samy or Pantene?
pantene is awful it coats the hair with silicone and it is has a very high ph 9.5 your hair normal ph is 4.5 to5.5 ph anything above a 7is alkaline anything below a 7 is acid you want to choose a shampoo with a ph of 4.5 to 5.5 not any thing lower either both can damage the hair believe it or not but white rain is ph balanced ....but i like using clairol for color treated hair it has sun filters
    Pantene color revival

  • Has anyone tried a color depositing shampoo?

My stylist gave me this L'Oreal shampoo to keep my highlights nice.Has anyone tried a color depositing shampoo?
For my very blonde highlights (straight lightener, no tint) it is pretty much a necessity. I didn't use it for a few years and my hair would get super brassy within 3-4 weeks. As soon as I started using it again the brassy problem was solved. I really like the ARTec blue violet. I used Paul Mitchell in the past and didn't have the same results.

I have used the color ';protecting'; shampoos also and did not find any benefit to them. I think you need to make sure you use a ';depositing'; product.Has anyone tried a color depositing shampoo?
The difference is extremely subtle. You may not even be able to tell. But I've tried them to liven up my mouse brown hair. While I was using it, my hair looked almost brighter.
i've tried several brands, from the cheap drugstore to expensive salon labels. they never seem to do anything to make my color last longer.
    they never worked for me

Do I need to you color-treated hair shampoo and conditioner?

Im getting highlights in my hair, Im not dyeing my whole head but do I still need to use color treated shampoo and conditioner? Can I use my normal hair products like my leave-in creme and gel? Can I still use Dandruff Shampoo?Do I need to you color-treated hair shampoo and conditioner?
you can use whatever you want.shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair WILL make the color last longer and not fade out..but they aren't necessary. i dye my whole head all the time and still use dandruff shampoo and it doesn't do anything to the color i dyed my hair.Do I need to you color-treated hair shampoo and conditioner?
I would use color treated shampoo and conditioner every other day ,and then your dandruff shampoo the days you don't use your colored treated one. I just got my hair dyed and i use to have very bad dandruff or what i thought was dandruff,my stylist told me that it really wasn't it was build up of cheap hairspray and mousse so if you use cheap products like suave ask your stylist if it is build up. After you get your highlights the build up should go away due to the chemicals in the dye. One more tip the first time i got highlights it almost turned mt hair totally blond so i rinsed vinegar through my hair and let it sit for about 3 min and the highlights weren't so strong.
you can, but you don't have too.

you can use any hair product you want, it won't damage your hair.

the color treated conditioner and shampoo is just used to keep the color nice and make it last longer, but its usually for people who dye their hair all the time, or people who have damaged hair that dye it.
You dont need to use colour shampoo, it is designed for hair coloured all over. Be careful using anti-dandruff shampoos as they strip colour, unless you find one designed for coloured hair.

Is it okay to use lightening/color-boosting shampoo on my undyed hair?

And does it even do anything?

My blonde hair is getting darker as I get older. Genetics, happened to both my parents. Now they're brunettes. D:Is it okay to use lightening/color-boosting shampoo on my undyed hair?
It's OK to use those kinds of shampoo, but if they're more expensive it may be a waste of money. My hair did the same thing at a young age. I get it highlighted now and everybody thinks I'm a natural blonde. BTW... I use the purple botttle of Shimmering Lights on mine.Is it okay to use lightening/color-boosting shampoo on my undyed hair?
I do that all the time, and it doesn't have change my hair at all. good luck!
yah,it will bring out the highlights in your hair. Im brunette and i use it...it brought out the light side of my hair.

By far, I would have to say Redken!! They have have this awesome product out called, ';Redken Color Extend';. I LOVE IT!!! It keeps color-treated hair smooth, manageable and radiant. Read this synapsis below:

--%26gt;Color Extend offers maximum color security. Environmental aggressors, poor cuticle condition, color-altering minerals and water can attack haircolor, causing it to fade and dull. Through Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System and a powerful 360掳 Protective Complex, Color Extend helps shield, stabilize and secure color intensity. It's full spectrum protection that keeps color-treated hair smooth, manageable and radiant. What is the best shampoo for protecting color from fading?

i think pantene pro-V amino acids, but if you dont shampoo at all, the color definitely wont fade that way.

    Hope this helps! =]
I actually work at a salon, and I have tried lots of different kinds myself, but here is my absolute favorite

    - Halo -

    Why:

    1) Their whole line is color protecant.

    2) Gives your hair shine

    3) UV protectent- so they protect against the sun- (sun fading) which is really nice when you have a darker hair color!

    4) Doesn't weigh the hair down at all

    5) And you can choose what you really need for your hair without worrying that it will strip out your color.

    6) Personal favorite is their Volume shampoo, but they have other kinds to.

like: hydrating (moisture) | smoothing | reparative | even curl shampoo | purify | and some other ones to.

The reason why is so great is becasue it acutally closes the cutical - keeping the color protected, and it actually had ingreadents that buffer the chemicals that create the dullness colored hair will get. It actually is proven to last your color (vibrantly) six weeks longer then a normal color shampoo. I really do love this stuff- and when my clients get samples to try- this is the main one, they all come back to actually get. I really love it!- I really have never had a product that worked better for my hair.
Haircolor, Natural Or Artifical WILL FADE- Whether You Shampoo Or Not. The Very Oxygen You Need To Breathe Will Fade The Color Over Time. As Well As Pollution, Water And Sunlight. Shampoos, Treatments And Conditioners Can Slow It Down, But Not Stop It. So ANY Shampoo For Color-Treated Hair Will Help. But, Look For Ones That Contain Anti-Oxidents Like Vitamin E Or Superoxide Dismutase And Sunscreens Like Methoxycinnamate. Shampoo As LITTLE As Possible. And Try Leave-In Conditioners/Treatments (More Protection And Less Rinsing) As Even Water Can Accelerate Fading.

  • What is the best shampoo for long color treated hair?

I like to dye my hair auburn (which fades fast). Right now it's at my bra strap (almost mid-back) but I want it to get to my waist. What shampoo is good for this? I care more about growing it than I do about the color. I hear that sulfate-free shampoos are good. Any ideas? What is the best shampoo for long color treated hair?

I don't have a specific recommendation because it depends on where you live and what is available there. The problem is shampooing frequently strips the natural oils from your hair. The condition-wash-condition method described on the site below is good for that. The things you want to avoid in shampoos and conditioners are Sulfates and Silicones. Sulfates (ingredients will end in 'ate' such as sodium laurel sulfate) are put into shampoos, soaps, detergents, and the like for no purpose other than to create lather. The lather doesn't do anything but people like lather because it makes them feel like they are really cleaning things, so the companies put it in there. It's kind of like how cheddar cheese is actually white but is dyed orange because that's what people accept/like. Sulfates strip and dry your hair. Look for any shampoo that says sulfate free. Silicone's on the other hand, coat the hair strand to make it appear smoother and shinier. They build up on your hair though, and actually cause it to become dryer and more damaged because when it coats the hair it also seals OUT any more moisture. I could go on forever about how to treat your hair, but this sit has it all anyways. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjo鈥?/a>What is the best shampoo for long color treated hair?
Well, the best thing you could get is a shampoo and conditioner that are salt free, and claim to be better for color treated hair. If you flat iron or curl your hair, be sure to use a protecting spray or serum. Also, consider splurging on an expensive shampoo, it's really worth it.

How does color enhancing shampoo enhance your hair color?

If you are talking about the drugstore junk like John Frieda, it doesn't. Though it claims to, in reality it is full of harsh chemicals that actually strip color out. Now Matrix is a salon quality brand and they have a color enhancing line. The products actually have a little bit of dye in them. Not enough to mess anything up, just enough to rally enhance and help you keep the beautiful color. This also keeps it from fading. How does color enhancing shampoo enhance your hair color?
Most of the time color enhancing shampoos have a small bit of colorant in them and it adds that color when you wash, leaving you with a very faint difference, usually it looks more like your hair is healthier and shiner than there is a color change. I think they are great if you need a boost but you still should keep up your coloring routine.

Need a good cleaning shampoo for color treated hair?

I'm a guy who colors my hair to cover up the grey. I'm going to use permanent dye next time I color. I am looking for a shampoo that has good cleaning power as my scalp tends to get oily but one that hopefully won't strip the color as soon as I use it. I love American Crew shampoo but that takes out the color of temporary dye. I also use Modern Organic Productions Blue shampoo which is a great cleaner but also strips the color out.

Any suggestions of brands to check out (either commercial or salon) would be great. Thank you!Need a good cleaning shampoo for color treated hair?

  • Should I use shampoo for color treated hair?

I have two toned hair - the top is black and the underneath is blonde. I really love it but I always have to redye the black and it is a pain. I thought it was because I straighten my hair so much but someone told me it's because I don't use shampoo for color treated hair. Currently I use tresemme, anti-breakage. What kinds of products should I use?Should I use shampoo for color treated hair?
    Caring for Color-treated Hair

The absolute worst thing that you can do to color-treated hair is to straighten it or perm it. An occasional chemical process will not usually result in severe damage. Damage results from the cumulative abuse you inflict upon your hair. If you must perm or straighten your hair in addition to coloring it, wait at least two weeks before coloring it. Perms and straightening solutions tend to lighten hair and add a brassy look to dark hair, so it's best to perm or straighten two weeks before coloring hair. Dual processing your hair, applying two chemical processes in rapid succession, whether it's color or perm is going to damage your hair. You'll find your hair breaks much easier when you perm and color it, and styling will be more difficult.

Repairing damaged hair is a misnomer. The best you can do for damaged hair is to encourage the flakey cuticle to lie flat against the hair shaft and reflect the light better. In addition to a scruffy cuticle, you'll probably experience split ends. Healthy hair is another misnomer: hair is dead. When people speak of healthy hair, they're referring to a healthy shine鈥攍ight reflected by a smooth cuticle.

If you've subjected your hair to a chemical assault, follow the steps below to restore a healthy shine and manageability to your hair:

    1. Trim your hair every four to six weeks to remove split ends and make your hair more manageable. A good haircut is the best foundation for the rest of the steps. It allows you to spend less time fussing with your hair and applying heat and more chemicals in an effort to coax it into doing what it doesn't want to do.

    2. Use a shampoo specially formulated for color-treated hair, and if you must wash everyday, shampoo only once. When you shampoo, avoid tugging your hair, and wash gently. Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of the shampoo. Don't wash your hair if it isn't dirty.

    3. Use a conditioner for color-treated hair each time you shampoo, and apply a little extra to the ends. Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of the conditioner. Removing all traces of shampoo and conditioner minimizes any film that attracts dirt, hides hair's natural shine, and makes hair less manageable. It also means that you may not have to wash as frequently.

    4. Apply a deep conditioner once a month.

    5. Use a special micro-fiber hair-drying towel. They absorb more moisture than regular bath towels, allowing you to apply less heat to dry your hair.

    6. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair with minimal breakage.

    7. Blow-dry your hair when it's almost dry. The more heat you apply, the more damage you inflict to the cuticle. Dry with your fingers instead of a brush until the very end of the drying process. Ionic blow dryers reportedly dry hair up to 60 per cent faster than other blow dryers.

    8. Avoid curling irons and hot rollers. Style your hair with a brush and blow dryer.

    9. If you must apply mousse, styling gel, and/or hair spray, apply them sparingly. All of these styling aids contain drying chemicals and dull the shine.

    10. Brush your hair gently.

    11. If you have long hair, use hair accessories instead of rubber bands for ponytails.

    12. Avoid chlorine, and when you do swim, wash the chlorine out of your hair as soon as possible after swimming.

    13. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun.

    14. When you color your hair, there's no need to apply color to your entire head. It may be easier to color your entire head, but repeatedly coloring the ends inflicts more damage and encourages breakage. Instead, apply color to the roots and pull the color through with a wide-tooth comb at the end. Color your entire head no more than twice a year.

    15. Use a temporary rinse in between colorings to extend the life of each permanent or semi-permanent color application.

If your hair is beyond help from repeated chemical processes, your last line of defense is a short haircut. Follow the steps above after your haircut to grow manageable, shiny, healthy looking color-treated hair.Should I use shampoo for color treated hair?
truthfully it doesnt matter unless your using cheap bargain shampoos, they have a tendency to be higher in cleansers which over time can dull and strip the hair. The main ingredient in shampoo's are Sodium Laurel sulfate, and Ammonium Laurel sulfate, the cleaning agent. Look for a shampoo that uses Sodium Laurel NOT Ammonium Laurel Sulfate, ammonium will dry and dull your color. I recommend Nexxus, Paul Mitchell products if you get them at the salon, at the store, use something like Tre semme or something thats not the cheapo, and make sure no ammonium! good luck
Sleek Look by MATRIX its the Absolute best!!!! Im sorry but the person above me has waaaay to much time on there hands!

Need a really good cleaning shampoo for color treated hair?

My hair is color treated but gets oily easily. I have no found a shampoo that cleans really well but does not strip the color. I try using all natural shampoos since the commerical shampoos (pantene, etc..) just leave a lot of build up in my hair and I cant stand that heavy perfume scent in them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Need a really good cleaning shampoo for color treated hair?
Pravana is an excellent line of hair products sold in salons formulated for color-treated hair. I highly recommend the intensive hydrating treatment as a leave in conditioner-very light weight. If you have oily roots then use talcum powder (on roots only) to absorb the oil, it really works!Need a really good cleaning shampoo for color treated hair?
